We’ve currently had a few issues arise on Egnyte with documents being the incorrect revision or not having saved changes, this has been caused by incomplete document uploads.

Diagram below is a rough outline of what’s happening.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------       Day 1   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Document is saved to Egnyte > Egnyte app starts upload > Upload is interrupted by closing/shutting down Mac > Document has not been updated

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------       Day 2   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mac started up and current ‘live’ document on Egnyte is loaded > Changes made to ‘live’ document while previous changes to document are uploaded > Document changes made on the ‘live’ document are lost from day 2

A similar problem can also occur if you try to work on a document that is already open by someone else. If you make changes to a document already open, it will not save these changes as the live document.

The message below should tell if you someone is in a document you try to open.

You can check whether your document uploading by click the Egnyte icon in the menu bar and checking the bottom right of the pop up. It will change to Up to date once upload is completed

If want to double check the a file has been uploaded, go to wearew.engyte.com, navigate to the directory where the file and saved and download a copy as shown below. This will be the current live version.

Egnyte does keep all versions ever uploaded so it’s easy for us to pull up old copies of documents if there is any problems or they go corrupt etc.
